One of the most inspired writers and performers of reggaetón (and a pioneer of the increasingly popular musical genre), Vico C makes a straight acting appearance in “Thieves and Liars.”
Throughout his career, Vico C’s lyrics have consistently expressed an unusually mature and positive take on the tough-life-on-the-street themes that dominate the genre, and have set the high bar against which his peers measure up to.
We had always felt a kinship his themes and spirit, which are very close to what we were trying to convey in the film (his song “Desahogo” could have been the theme of our movie). We were overjoyed when he agreed to appear in the film, even though his busy concert schedule sadly kept him from tackling a bigger part.
He is doubly represented in the film, as his song “Flowowow” can be heard the discotheque scene. To learn more about Vico C and his music visit www.vicoc-elfilosofo.com
